On Canada Project Media
On Canada Project is GPI’s digital media engine—where awareness turns into action.
In a world flooded with disinformation, OCP cuts through the noise with sharp, evidence-based, values-driven storytelling that actually meets people where they are. Think of us as your politically informed, emotionally intelligent bestie who’s here to help you understand what’s going on—and what to do about it.
We’re not just explaining the headlines. We’re:
Breaking down complex issues through a human rights lens,
Telling the stories mainstream media avoids, and
Creating real pathways to action, especially for people who care but don’t know where to start.
We reach 1-4 million unique viewers monthly, with 10x the monthly impressions. Our audience is primarily Gen Z/Millennials with growing Baby Boomer & Gen X audiences as well!
OCP is redefining what it means to be a media brand in Canada during a time of political and cultural crisis.
OCP is where people get informed and empowered, then get plugged into the rest of the GPI ecosystem: learning, community-building, and real-world impact.

Our Origin Story
Did you know that On Canada Project Inc. is an accidental pandemic baby?
When Samanta Krishnapillai came up with On Canada Project (OCP) in April 2020, her only motivation was to meet the needs of Canadians by creating a temporary grassroots passion project to support people in navigating disinformation around the pandemic.
The unexpected success of growing OCP to become Canada's largest community-media account on Instagram led to Samanta envisioning how OCP could go from a temporary tool for social good to a long-term force for good.
In April 2021, OCP transitioned from a passion project into a social enterprise business equipped with an additional consulting arm (Good Trouble Studios). So, yes, our journey may seem a little unconventional and a little backward, but sometimes the most extraordinary adventures are the ones you stumble into – fueled by enthusiasm, grounded in your unique superpower and starting with a leap of faith.
– and thank goodness for it, because our media arm and resource hub is the only one of its kind in Canada; we are an alternative to the status quo, and an antidote for hate., We Are OCP Inc., and we’re just getting started.
